A Disease LOOKIT!! - I originally did this one-pager for my teacher soooo ...here it is.

Infectious Diseases -Tuberculosis

Summary - Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms — such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Treatment isn't always required for those without symptoms of Tuberculosis. Patients with active symptoms will require a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics.

A Lookit at Diseases- Tuberculosis |    Active vs. Latent, Treatments, Why?

Tuberculosis which used to be considered rare in many countries increased in the mid-1980’s. This was caused by the increase of HIV which decreases the strength of the immune system to the point where it can’t fight TB germs. Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person. It mainly affects the lungs, but it can affect any part of the body,

Latent TB vs. Active TB- Latent TB has little to no symptoms. SO while it is a TB infection the bacteria in your body are inactive and cause no symptoms. This doesn't mean you don’t need treatment though, because Latent TB when not treated can turn into Active TB Active TB on the other hand make you weak, cause symptoms, and are infectious. Signs and symptoms include Coughing for three or more weeks, Coughing up blood or mucus, Chest pain, or pain with breathing or coughing, Unintentional weight loss, Night sweats, Chills, Loss of appetite.

Treatments- If you're infected with a drug-resistant form of TB, treatment with 6 or more different medications may be needed.

The most common treatment for active TB is isoniazid INH in combination with three other drugs—rifampin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol
